Here are a few logos for Scotland... although since I stuck with a Fleur de li, even though it was used in much of the designs for Scotland, I wonder if it looks like more of a French design. Not sure about the fonts they are sort of plain, but legible, so I don't know.
I like the first one, but I think if you moved "Glasglow" to underneath the rings it might flow a little better - great design, it looks really good.

I like the font from 2, but the logo looks too busy with the Olympic rings in the middle. I'd like to see you use the font and placement from 2 and the logo from 1. The font from 4 for "2016" is good too. 3's font looks a little too...fancy?
ReplyDeleteOverall though I like 2's font the most.

I like #1 and #3, but choose #1 but try to make Glasgow thicker or more recognizable, but I really like the swirls and everything, good job. Just for reference #2 looked like too much was going on and #4 didn't look appealing because it was stretched out.

I definetely like the first one, I liked how you arranged your design with type and everything. Play a little bit more with the type, but the design is really good; I like how you rearranged the figures! The second one is good also but it is a little confusing because of the position of the rings, perhaps you can find a place where you can position them so it does not confuse with the design. Maybe changing the colors also.
ReplyDeletevery nice job!
I like the first one because how everything is arranged I just feel like the other designs aren't arranged right with the type, rings and logo, but 1# I would say is best.
ReplyDeleteNice graphic! font should be legible so it's good if it's simple... #1 is in good shape like the hierarchy and plament of the elements... but there's something about the last one that i like too... the year and graphic go really well and maybe you should play a little more with placement of the city... graphic, year, rings nice hierarchy just need to fing the right place for the city name... font is nice!
ReplyDelete"plament?" is placement, "fing" find (wink)
ReplyDeleteHands down I like #2. It is super creative and well rendered. You don't need to change a thing. I like the how the rings are intertwined in this version...its still abstracted and on the other versions I think the olympic rings are actually competing with your element design.
ReplyDeleteGo with #2 :)
Great Job!

I think #1 is the strongest. I really like #2 in theory, but it is too busy. I think that when the logo is knocked out into one color, all the definition in it will be lost and you won't be able to separate the rings from the image. I think that "Glasgow" might work better underneath the image and try playing with the sizes and layout. Maybe shrink the rings and the year down and put them on the same line.

I like the first and the third one. Every element is well balanced and nicely structured. My suggestion is that you should make the type bigger or make the mark smaller so that it is easy to find the word GLASGOW. I think you should make it big enough just to make it visible or important.
ReplyDeleteI like the graphics in number one, but I think you should put the text underneath like number 2. I think the stylizing of the rings is a bit too much since you have the colors in their anyway.

I like the third one except that when you shrink it down you can't read the city, so I suggest bump up the type or choose a typeface that isn't so thin.

#1 i like how its cleaner and simpler. i would do each color individually so it doesn't look so perfect. also the glasgow with the rings. nice logo
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite ones would be 2 and 4... I like the use of the gold rings in the fourth one, as well as how the type boxes the whole thing in to a solid mark. The second one takes on a more simplistic style that I like as well, although it might get hard to read if it were any smaller.
ReplyDeletei really like #1 logo because its simple and is dynamic... i think that #2 is a little too much... i would also go with type from the #2 design.... as it fits well with the design... i also like how u put the type on top and the year in the bottom.... but Glasgow on the side isn't working for me.... aligned is the best

i think you answered your own question. i would research more the history of the icon, but that graphic and the city just don't work well together.

the iconography is a miss - especially when we refer to the symbol with french influenced cities - New Orleans, Quebec to name a few. the name itself is french.
